Our story

Grown by a family. Named by a three-year-old.

From a backyard passion project to twenty acres of pumpkins and squash grown every year — welcome to the Gutzman family's patch.

Since 1995

Pumpkin Mike planted the seeds. The family keeps them growing.

Punky's Pumpkins began in 1995 when Mike Gutzman — known to everyone as Pumpkin Mike — turned a passion for growing pumpkins into a family-owned Sonoma County tradition. It started on the Gutzmans' two-acre property and grew into a twenty-acre farm where we plant and grow big, beautiful pumpkins and a wide variety of squash every year, then bring the best of the harvest to the patch.

The Gutzman family has happily called Sonoma County home for more than 65 years. Today, Kim and their daughter Morgan carry that tradition forward as hands-on local owners who proudly support other local businesses.

In loving memory of Mike Gutzman — Pumpkin Mike — founder of Punky's Pumpkins, who passed away December 29, 2025. His patch, and his welcome, live on.

Why “Punky”?

Blame the nickname

The name “Punky” comes from the nickname “Punk” that Mike's daughter Morgan was given when she was three. The patch grew up with her — and today Morgan also runs the family's holiday sister lot, Kringle's Korner Christmas Trees, at the same Luther Burbank Center address.

Fall pumpkins. Winter trees.

When October wraps, the family swaps pumpkins for pines at Kringle's Korner Christmas Trees — same address at the Luther Burbank Center, run by Morgan. Two seasons, one family.
